What to say about it, it’s really good for the price of 6.5k but because of a sale I got it for 5.6k. it’s over a month or two and as expected, no issues. The speeds are so good.My motherboard came with heatsinks for SSD and the temperatures were good. Can’t say what would it be without heatsink, but I can say SSDs usually don’t heat that much that they damage itself, so no issues.

Best performance upgrade for laptop
I bought this for my Lenovo laptop and i must say this is one of the best and cheapest upgrades that can be done on a laptop or desktop. I know a lot of people will have questions about SSD’s. So i will try to explain things a bit.There are basically 3 types of SSD- 2.5 inch SATA (SATA Interface)- M2 – MSATA- M2 – NVMEBut what’s the difference ?Now you might have noticed i have written M2 type two times. That’s the catch. They look similar but perform entirely differently. MSATA sticks uses the same communication channels as the 2.5 inch SATA drive. The maximum speeds that can be attained on MSATA is around 550 MBPS.But in NVME you can get close to 2000MBPS or even as high as 3000 MBPS. Many people are unaware of this factor and end up buying M2 MSATA or 2.5″ Sata SSDs. You should always go for a NVME based one, if your Motherboard supports it. NVME works on actual PCIE bus and not SATA lines. WD Blue series also comes in 3 variants mentioned above. The MSATA and NVME sticks looks very similar, except that MSATA has 2 cuts (M key) and NVME has only 1(b key). So before you buy just check your M2 slot how it looks. If it has only 1 cut, it must support NVME, go for the NVME variant.Performance and disk sizeI bought the 500 GB variant and what i get is 3500 MBPS Read and 2400 MBPS Write for Sequential read.How SSDs make the system fast?Many people follow the logic that upgrading RAM is the best way to upgrade your system. But No. If you replace your hard disk, it can actually act as RAM (Page file or SWAP) as well as your internal memory. A lot of new laptops with SSD come nowadays with just 4GB RAM. Still they are fast. Now, how it works ? SSD comes with a considerable amount of transfer speed, especially for small files. Hard disks are really really slow when it comes to small tiny files, average 4K read speeds of hard disks are 3 or 4 MBPS, whole for SSD its 200 to 300 MBPS.Which is like a 100 times faster. Most of the system operations read/write small files, which makes harddisks sluggish. Forget about the 1800 MBPS Sequential speed for large files. That’s yet another factor.Which size to choose ?I would highly recommend you to go for 512 or 1 TB as it has double Write speeds of 250 GB version.How to install ?It’s very easy. But be careful, use a rubber gloves to prevent ESD. Slide in the Stick to the slot. It will rest at a 30 degree angle to the board. Now you need to insert the screws to fix it in right position.Before you buy.. Make sure that your board supports NVME. Check the user manual. Also check the slot and see it has only 1 cut. Not twoHow much is the real world results ?I use this on my Lenovo laptop. My Windows OS which used to take 2 minute to boot now takes 10 seconds. This much boost is obtained because my Desktop is i7 and can process too much data. So if you have a good processor you also can obtain similar results.I know my review was bit lengthy, but i hope you found it helpful!!

I’ve been using the WD Blue SN580 NVMe SSD as an external drive, and it’s been a solid performer so far. As Fast as Fast Goes
I had to upgrade my NVMe out of storage necessity but the quality of life upgrade was above expectations for me, that makes this really a perfect 5 Star product.It’s really fast, it’s highly performant and it’ll get your job done. I tested mostly on working with some heavy DAW projects, gaming, general day-to-day use cases and found substancial improvements across each application improving every one of my workstreams.It was really easy to install and get things running.Amazon as usual was wonderful in their entire process.This is a future proof storage solution which I highly recommend.

This is a great drive for todays use of storage… I am using a 500gb for my OS, and a partitioned 4tb for my games storage. The 4tb it is regularly hitting 4200MB/s read and 4700 MB/s write on CrystalMark, with the 500gb doing r/w 4300MB/s and 4000MB/s. Sure, the black gaming models are nice with 7000+, but unless you’re moving data as part of a work flow, the Blue SN5000 will do the trick very well.(Honestly, even Gen3 NVME’s would do the trick!! HA!)

Western Digital 2TB WD Blue SN5000:I like the combination of low power and speed that this drive gives. But it takes (much) longer than competing drives to drop into the lower-power states needed for good battery life on a notebook. And it has timeout errors on my Linux install, which is a deal-breaker. Lots of no-name drives from Asia have the same errors or worse, but Samsung drives don’t and work perfectly — and also drop to low power states very quickly.So.. back it goes.

Western Digital Blue SN580 NVMe SSD 1TB ReviewI have a 10-year-old computer running Windows 10. The system drive has been upgraded from a mechanical hard drive to a Crucial MX500 SATA SSD. This really increased the boot-up speed and functioning of the computer.For the computer I was installing the SN580 NVMe SSD into, I had to purchase a M.2 NVMe PCI-E adapter because my 10-year-old computer does not have a M.2 slot. It does have an available PCI Express x16 (Gen 2.0) slot. The adapter I bought is backward compatible to Gen2.0.The NVMe SSD can only be used as a secondary drive in the computer I was installing it in because the computerâs BIOS will not boot from PCI-E. If the computerâs BIOS could boot from PCI-E I would have cloned the SATA SSD and made the NVMe SSD the system drive.INSTALLATION1) After connecting the NVMe to your computer (remember, typically, the card is inserted into the slot at an angle and then gently pressed down and secured with a screw).2) Power on the computer and go to Disk Management (Click the Microsoft logo in the lower left of the screen and type âDisk Managementâ.)3) A dialog box will ask you to initialize the drive. Do so.4) Locate the new SSD in the disk drive section. In the Unallocated section, right click and format the drive. After itâs complete, close Disk Management window and youâre new SSD should be ready to use.RESULTSIn my situation, I connected the WD SN580 to the computerâs PCI-E X16 slot using an adapter. I was blown away at the read/write speeds compared to the Crucial MX500 SATA SSD (being used as the System drive).The NVMe SSD, using PCI-E adapter, had tremendous speed. For comparison, here are the CrystalDiskMark results for the two drives installed in the computer: Read WriteCrucial MX500 SATA SSD: 285.1. 267.6WD Blue SN580 NVMe: 3,533.3 3,395.5Although not exactly a fair comparison because the two drives use different technologies, upgrading to an NVMe SSD in my situation was the right choice.FINAL THOUGHTSInstallation was straightforward. The Western Digital SN580 NVMe 1TB SSD performed extremely well and has a very good price point. Also, Western Digital, at the companyâs website, provides Acronis cloning software free of charge and no registration is required. I recommend this product.
