Completely unreliable. Both drives failed.
Update:It seems that the problem may have to do with incompatibility with APFS in Big Sur. The solution seems to be to create a single Time Machine backup using Mac OS Extended format on a different Mac with an earlier OS). Then after that, when you try to make a backup with your current OS (Big Sur), it will use Mac OS Extended format (because it has already detected the earlier time machine backup in Mac OS Extended format), and will not use APFS.It has been a couple of days so far, but until now no failures, and drive seems to mount. Lets see how long it will last. Unclear if Apple is to blame, or Western Digital, but if there are no more updates to my review, then one can say that the drives seem to work reliably in Mac OS Extended format. The backup speed seems faster also.Update:Neither of the drives I purchased will mount anymore. Cannot access the data. All within one week. Barely used either drive 3-4 times. One drive being defective can happen to anyone. But both drives failing within a week! Do not buy this product! There is clearly something wrong with it. What a waste of money. Return window is closed so can’t get a refund. Now have to go through head ache of seeing if drives can be replaced from manufacturer. =(UPDATE:Its been a few more days, and for some reason MacOS keeps asking me for the password to decrypt the device even though each time I choose to store it in keychain. The device won’t even mount now. Return window closed. What a waste of a device! Completely unreliable as portable storage.UPDATE:Time Machine Backups on Mac OS seem to repeatedly fail on both my drives. I have tried wiping / reformatting the drives and creating fresh backups. The first always succeeds. But subsequent ones seem to randomly fail. And backing up takes a really long time. In short, these drives are worse than ordinary HDD drives in terms of reliability it seems. After multiple attempts, it seems the error goes away and the backup succeeds. But you do not want to store backups on an unreliable drive!! The drives are small and light, but are slow and unreliable! I would not recommend them for anything critical.Original Review:The device is very small and light, like carrying nothing at all. Fits in your palm, can easily carry 3-4 in your jeans pocket. 5 stars for size and weight. The data cable weighs more than the device I think.But it’s very slow! For a few minutes I thought it was fast like other SSDs…. then it became pretty slow…. as slow or slower than HDDs…. No idea why. I purchased two, and both behave the same way.Buy if you just want small light portable storage, but don’t expect a fast SSD. Instead I would suggest the sandisk one which advertises 1000-2000mbps if you need speed.

保存用HDDの入替タイミングでもうそろそろ転送速度も数倍速いSSDに代替えしようとAmazonさんを見て回ると2T容量は未だ割高感があり１T程度がお得そうだったがなんとHDDより安いものまであり少し迷うもレビューがおかしかったりあまりに安すぎて信頼感も無く取りやめそこでやはりHDD時代からも信頼感があるWD製に絞り込んだ届いた商品はスクエアー型の2.5inchHDDサイズをさらに小さくした様な感じこの大きさで２T。しかもHDDより圧倒的に転送が速い本体とケーブルは着脱式なのも良く携帯性も高かった。１Tを超えて大量のDATAを読み書きするにはやはりHDDでは時間がかかりすぎもちろんSSDだってそれなりに待たなけりゃならないがおおよそ4倍速度はHDDと比較にならない便利さでしたしHDDからの入替作業にも大きく快適さが増した感じ。さらにHDDは携帯での衝撃リスクも高いし温度差にも弱く気遣いもある。未だ少し高めな気もしたがこのWDな２T商品を２個買いました。快適さ、携帯性、安定性、買って良かったです。
