I’m not a fairytale-happily-ever-after kinda girl. I’m the nerdy girl with my nose in a book, who’d rather be coding than chasing high school boys. My focus is on my future. And I’m so close to achieving it, my dream-lined pockets are bursting at the seams.
Then he comes home from college with my brother for Thanksgiving break. My hormones threaten to derail my no-boys motto. Though who am I kidding? There are no boys knocking on my door. It’s a painful lie I tell myself: I don’t want—need—to be loved.
I have dreams, plans, and they don’t include falling for the future VP of my dream job. He’s Joseph friggin McIntyre of the infamous McIntyre brothers. He’s too gorgeous, too smart, too perfect to want a girl like me.
Only he does.
And now my life is a love story. A broken, messy affair of the heart, soul, and tumbling dreams. When unthinkable tragedy strikes, I’ll do anything for the man I love, even if it means setting him free.

Really love the character development and interaction between them. Thereâs a good amount of romance, respect and emotion between the main characters. The mystery and action keep the interest at a high level. Need to see where this goes from here.

I really need to stop starting books without checking if it’s a direct series or companion novel because once again… This is a book that ends on a cliffhanger ðThis book follows Joe and Sam. Joe is Sam’s brother’s roommate in college. Joe tags along for Thanksgiving break and meets Sam, and from the start, there is that instant attraction between the two. There is a 3-year ish age gap (17/21) between the two, and they also don’t acknowledge these feelings because Sam’s brother is Joe’s best friend.I loved our characters, and I wish they got more time together. There was a lot of going in circles of the will they/won’t they vibes and whether they would try to make anything work despite their distance and age. Joe knew what he wanted but he didn’t communicate that much to Sam and I wish that he did. There was a lot of miscommunication, or lack of communication between our characters but when they were together I loved them!I thought their connection was there and their intentions made sense.

This book was so hard to put down!I really thought that the characters were wonderful, and I particurlarly loved the acceptance from the families! It made it all the better for it!And, even though I didn’t like Sam to begin with, I realised that I’m as much as an over-analyser as her! I perhaps think she was a little bit too dramatic, for me, but I still can’t wait to get my hands on the next one! This was such a great debut! And I’d recommend it for anyone looking for an intense romantic read with a sassy lead girl and a melt in your mouth guy, who I have to say, sounds absolutely perfect!Where can I get my own Joseph Mcyntire???
