As a part of the acclaimed DC Comics – The New 52 event of September 2011, writer Scott Lobdell (X-Men, The Age of Apocalypse) and artist Brett Booth (JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA) deliver a fresh new take on DC Comics’ teen heroes, the Teen Titans.
Tim Drake, Batman’s former sidekick, is back in action when an international organization called Project N.O.W.H.E.R.E. seeks to capture, kill or co-opt super-powered teenagers. As Red Robin, he’s going to have to team up with the mysterious and belligerent powerhouse thief known as Wonder Girl, the hyperactive speedster calling himself Kid Flash and few more all-new teen super-heroes to stand any chance at all against N.O.W.H.E.R.E. But as Superboy meets them for the first time, the Titans have to wonder, is he a friend – or foe?

Collects Teen Titans (The New 52), Issues 1-7The adventure was a lot of fun, and the art was beautiful to look at. This is the exact type of art that I would want out of my superhero comics. Iâll break down each issue in depth below, but for a quick, spoiler-free summary, I would describe this volume as, âthe building of the team.â The Teen Titans all come together for the first time in service of a common goal. Led by Red Robin, they face off with a mysterious organization kidnapping and brainwashing teenagers. Here is the issue by issue breakdown:Issue 1: The book opens by introducing us to a âtrying to be helpful, but is actually making matters worseâ Kid Flash. The media is making a big deal out of metahumans making a mess of things across the globe. Next, we see Red Robin (Tim Drake, a former Robin to Batman) monitoring these world events when he is attacked by a clandestine organization called N.O.W.H.E.R.E. They are on a mission, gathering up super powered teenagers, and trying to recruit them to work for their agency. Red Robin is one of my favorite heroes in all of DC, and he decides that he needs to form a group of his own to combat N.O.W.H.E.R.E.âs plans. He starts by reaching out to Cassie Sandsmark, known as (much to her chagrin) Wonder Girl. The first issue ends with the revelation that N.O.W.H.E.R.E. is in possession of a weapon known as Superboy.Issue 2: This issue, again, opens with Kid Flash (Bart Allan). Tim Drake, working with Cassie, continues to try to figure out whatâs going on. He is an awesome detective, maybe second only to Batman. Iâm a big Dick Grayson fan, but Tim Drake is an extremely close second to best Robin ever.Issue 3: In this issue, I met a character that I had never heard of before. His real name is Miguel, but he goes by Bunker. He has the ability to create purple psionic constructs, similar to the Green Lanternâs power, but without the ring.Issue 4: It seems that Skitter has transitioned from creature to defeat into a member of the Teen Titans. At the beginning of this issue, Superboy is hunting down Wonder Girl, and Bunker and Skitter are hanging out at Timâs place. Then, out of nowhere, Kid Flash and Solstice show up. We learn quite a bit about the characterâs pasts. For example, Superboy was created a few weeks ago. Bart showed up at an orphanage six months ago with no memory of how he got his powers. Solstice has been altered by her time under N.O.W.H.E.R.E.âs incarceration. There was a cool Easter Egg of sorts, as we saw a Booster Gold advertisement in the background of the Wonder Girl/Superboy fight. One thing to note, not just about this issue, but about the book as a whole: You may think that with a title like Teen Titans, this book would be more aimed at a younger audience. This isnât the case. In fact, I noticed more sexual comments and innuendos in this volume than any of the other New 52 books that Iâve read so far. On the other hand, there is a young adult literature-like love triangle between Wonder Girl, and her two suitors, Red Robin and Superboy. In the middle of their all-out brawl in this issue, Superboy and Wonder Girl are both remarking that in different circumstances they could see themselves together.Issue 5: Superboy has different powers than Superman. He mentions âtactile telekinesisâ at the opening of this issue, and in the last issue he shot something out of his âSâ symbol. Superboy destroys the Teen Titans singlehandedly, but it appears that he is changing his stance on N.O.W.H.E.R.E.Issue 6: In the wake of the battle with Superboy, the police want to arrest the Teen Titans because of the property damage. Meanwhile, Kid Flashâs powers are still freaking out from what Superboy did to him. They need help, so they go to Virgil Hawkins, also known as the superhero, Static. Apparently, heâs a genius. Spoilers: Turns out the police detective isnât who she says she is. She seems to be from a different planet (or possibly a different time period). She knows the true identity of Kid Flash. The most interesting thing she said, in her weird, foreign language, was that âThis isnât supposed to happen yet!â There is a new villain for the team in this issue, named Grymm, but it takes about two pages to defeat him. Then, Kid Flash gets a new costume.Issue 7: The stupidest member of the team is introduced in this issue. Tim has an inside man, undercover at N.O.W.H.E.R.E. His name is Danny, and his power isâ¦Iâm not exactly sure, but he is a road that moves or something like that. A road that is a teenager and canât talk. Yeah, that sounds about right. Wait, no, he can also act as some sort of pan-dimensional doorway. That probably describes him better. Kid Flash has a memory of his mysterious past, so that was kind of cool. The apparent leader of N.O.W.H.E.R.E. is a guy named Zaniel Templar. Iâm not familiar with him. But then we meet the real big bad, a guy named Harvest, and he is building a Colony.

I’m new to the whole DC comic stuff but have seen a lot of the shows and movies. I started when I watched Young Justice on Cartoon Network© and was completely hooked by the characters. They only aired the first season I was awfully disappointed. Then I started watching Justice League and was also hooked. Only recently on Kindle was I able to finish the Young Justice and finally got myself hooked on samples of the comics.Bare in mind that I have never read a comic in my life so I can’t compare and tell you what’s better and if the new 52 is rubbish or anything. But from my research and general knowing of all this which has grown fast cuz I’m a total fangirl, I think this was a pretty good comic to start the New Teen Titans with. They have a lot of backstory that old readers will recognize SPOILER Superboy. Also you have a look at what I presume are new Characters as personally I have never heard of them before.Anyway at the beginning of the story we are faced with Kid Flash trying to do the hero of thing and save a person from a burning building and ending up making it worse, the scene changes to Tim Drake who goes by Red Robin by now looking for meta-humans that the evil organisation, who created Superboy, called N.o.w.h.e.r.e might abduct to either kill, experiment on or turn away from good and he meets Cassie Sandsmark and then Celene, lastly Miguel all of which are metas that he becomes friends with. Meanwhile Kid Flash who had been caught by N.o.w.h.e.r.e and had found a way to escape as well as a girl called Kiran (Solstice) with him were they escape to New York and join with the other metas. Cassie decides she owed Tim a favour and goes after some guys he hospitalized by accident for info which leads her into a mess with Superboy which all the metas (Tim, Miguel, Cassie Bart, Kiran and Celene) get crushed and Bart, Kid Falsh, is all most forced by Superboy to run to his death destabilising him and meaning he needs a special suit from Tim’s friend Virgil that keeps him together and the girls deem it sexy. We end the comic with our young metas named Teen Titans by Tim going to save Superboy from N.o.w.h.e.r.e destroying him to ‘re build him from scratch.

I did not order this for myself, my rating is based on how quickly the product got to me and that state it was in when I got it. I got the items in this order about a week after making the purchase-maybe not even a week. The items were all in great condition and I am sure the person getting this and the other comics i bought will be more than happy with them.
