worked great for me MBA 2017
I used this product with Crucial p2 1tb ssb and it worked like a charm. Just make sure that you have a bootable USB with MacOS ready as it doesn’t support internet recovery.

Works, but not with all NVM.e SSDs
I bought this to service a 2014 MBP with a dead SSD. While it does say that it doesn’t work with such-and-such SSDs, the list isn’t comprehensive. For reference, I bought a Crucial P3 NVMe 3.0 3D NAND SSD, and it refused to recognise it, despite the general spec suggesting that it should work.In the end, I ordered one of the few remaining available SSDs on its list of ‘will work with’ – an XPG Adata SX6000 Pro M2 Gen 3×4 2280 NVMe SSD, and then everything worked as expected. So, your mileage will vary. But the product does as advertised, so as long as you are open to some experimentation, its safe enough to buy. Best of luck!

Works if you find a compatible NVME drive
I could not acquire one of the drives listed as definitely compatible so I bought something else (Patriot P300). It turned out to not be compatible and it’s very hard to determine which NVME drives will work. In testing I also tried a Silicon Power SSD, which also did not work. Eventually a guy in a repair shop found one that worked, but we could not find one to buy locally. He said you need an older NVME drive. So beware that this might be an issue. Your best bet would be to get one of the ones listed. The adapter was also 1-2 mm too long, and could not quite snap in around the end post. It fit over the small inner post but not enough to allow the spacer to fit. There was also an adjacent connector (my Mac is A1466 Mid-2013) which also blocked the spacer. This isn’t a huge deal but made debugging that much harder because I was suspicious that it may not be fully connected.

Crucial P3 plus pcie gen 4 works
Nov 17, 2024. I am writing this on after installing it. The previous day I received it and immediately purchased mac screw driver (300rs offline with many buds). The I installed it after pairing with P3. On startup it failed, and was showing disc not found but luckily I had bootable usb on which in disc utility it was displayed but it was not mounted or formatted. I formatted it with default settings and then continued installing macos. After all it is working smoothly faster. I will write after a month of usage soon.

I’m surprised to say, this adapter actually worked as advertised. I was skeptical mostly because I know how Apple likes to lock hardware things down. With that said, it works!I tried this unit in both a MacBook Pro and MacPro. In the MacBook Pro it worked great, the new drive was faster than the stock drive and, of course, was larger. When I moved the same drive into the MacPro, it became dramatically faster! This is obviously a response based on the machine architecture, but it was still very surprising to see. I averaged 120mb/s while restoring from TimeMachine backup. My computer starts up lightening fast and is a joy to use.Highly recommend for users needing a size/speed bump.

Bought two of these to upgrade early 2014 Mac airs, along with WD Black 1Tb nvme drives. Installation was straight forward and the adapters work as intended. Also havenât experienced any sleep issues. The only issue I ran into was macos was extremely slow after cloning the drive, clean install and restoring from a time machine back up is definitely advised.
