When our son was born and had an episode where he stopped breathing, we wanted to have a monitor to help give us a little peace of mind while he slept. We had tried a different clip on monitor years ago that always gave false alarms or would fall off. We also didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars if we didn’t have to, so we tried this. So far, it has worked really well! I love that it is easy to clip on and is very lightweight and low profile, so it doesn’t bother him to wear it. There have been no false alarms. I also like that it tells you what position he is lying in, and if he rolls over onto his stomach, I am notified. The only downsides I have for this are that I have to remember to turn it off when I feed him, or it will go off about him being on his stomach when I’m burping him. Also, I couldn’t get it set up at first, but it turned out the battery that came in it was already dead, so I had to replace it with the extra that was luckily provided in the package. Sometimes I have to shake it more than twice to get it to turn on, and more than once we have had to re-sync the device to get it to turn on. But those minor things aren’t deal breakers, just annoyances. We have only been using it for two weeks, so I do not know how long the battery will last, but we use it every night and so far it has been working great.

Once our little guy hit the 6 month mark, rolling around became enjoyable – and this meant tummy sleeping in the crib at night. While his comfy new position was helping him sleeping more soundly, we were not. It was common for him to sleep directly on his face and we became concerned about his breathing…After 2 sleepless nights, we starting searching for a wearable monitor – some of the popular ones on the market are very expensive, and we just wanted to be able to measure his breathing without disrupting his sleep. We were attracted to the affordable price, simplicity and positive reviews from other parents for the SENSE-U breathing monitor. And with a 30-day return policy, it was worth giving this a try. Plus they even included an extra battery right from the start! The actual monitor is small, extremely easy to attach, and after downloading an app and entering your child’s stats, you’re ready to go. You can turn it on and off through the app, so you don’t always have to keep it running and this helps to save battery life. The first night we used it, the “weak breathing” alert went off around 3 am. The phone made a terrifying sound to wake us, but it was just what we needed to check the monitor and see that he was down on his face, rush into the nursery and flip him onto his back. It is scary to think what could have happened without this alarm, but we’re glad we will never have to find out with the peace of mind provided by the Sense-U. Now he is able to sleep, because we’re not constantly rolling him back and disrupting him when it’s unnecessary, and we are able to sleep again knowing the app will alert us if there is danger. We couldn’t be happier with this purchase and highly recommend the Sense-U to any parents who want a little more peace of mind without spending a fortune or disrupting anyone’s sleep!(screenshots of the app while our baby was wearing the Sense-U monitor)

As a first time mom I was REALLY hoping for some peace of mind with this product. I brought home my beautiful baby and the sense-u worked for about 2 weeks. The thing progressively started getting more and more fickle despite putting in a new battery and claims its at 94% charge anyway. this thing has as many permissions as I could on my phone so it would alert me. I even have the thing capable of writing over processes. My phone is at it’s whim and yet every time my screen times out or even when it doesnt… it just turns itself off. I literally have to reset it 15 times a day and I’ve just stopped at this point. It’s worthless.Software issues galore. It can’t connect. I have to constantly resync the damn thing and sometimes this means waking up my frickin’ baby at night. Slowly and carefully unzipping his onesie to access the diaper band to pull of the clip to shake it for resync. I have (had) to do this all the time. Imagine being a new parent with precious little sleep as it is and then praying to whatever god is listening that your baby will not wake up. Ill place it exactly as instructed and it will say my baby is stomach sleeping. I have to flip it to the “incorrect” position to get it to read that he’s sleeping on his back and then halfway through the night the software realizes its made a mistake and will go to the correct position and alarm me (loudly) that my baby is now stomach sleeping! This wakes up my baby sometimes.I dont have a lot if money but i wanted something that looked trustworthy. I paid this off over time. The too-tight clips have both broken and I’ve resorted to trying to squeeze the sensor into the clip through the clothes but tonight was the final straw as the ring cracked. I paid 130 freaking dollars to lose sleep and be frustrated! It should be illegal they are allowing to sell this thing. I NEVER review anything on amazon but if I can stop just one parent from buying this polished turd it’s worth my precious time.

UPDATED REVIEWAfter speaking with customer service, I resolved many issues and moved this from a 3 to 4 star. I still feel like thereâs some issues but I basically got this for $55 so my wife and I feel very happy with our purchase.- we had a faulty battery to start so it works better with the second one. When youâre done using it, you NEED to clear it from your phoneâs background or it will keep reading it and draining battery life.- it is Bluetooth enabled so the readings cant go more than a room away. This also means only 1 phone can be paired to it at one time. Itâs a setback but not enough to ruin the experience. I just hate having to bring my phone in with me to my babyâs room or wherever I go after the alarm sounds. At 3am, no one wants to remember to deal with their baby AND phone.- my suggestion for those getting âfalseâ alarms is to tweak the settings on the different alarms or turn one of the alarms off that you dont want to know about (either rollover, temp range, temp drop or breathing). You have to pick what works for YOU and YOUR BABY. This stopped us from getting 60 alerts in 1 night.- My wife and I both agreed there should be a pause (for 5-10 minutes?) or on/off button on the sensor when one of us is up with them instead of going into the app after every changing or feeding which can be as many as 8-10 times for us. The only problem with that would be to remember to turn it back on.- the sensor is NOT waterproof. So if you go to change your babyâs diaper and they happen to urinate on the sensor in your tired stooper, it COULD break since itâs only water-resistant.OVERALL THOUGHTSWith some of the issues, I donât think itâs currently worth the $100 (maybe $80) but my wife and I have been really liking the âsecond set of eyesâ on our child. So I guess I take back what I said. We didnt have this with our first child and I think I still would have purchased it to give us one less thing to heavily think about before falling asleep. A little peace of mind is worth the money. If you dont mind dealing with your baby AND phone, I think it makes a great present for new, expecting parents. I still think this is a great, cost-effective buy compared to the owlet. My wife refused to pay that price and was very happy with this alternative.INITIAL REVIEWItâs a great product in theory but here are the problems Im having:- I canât get more than 1 phone to pair with the device. My wife and I both want to have this work on our phones because we travel occasionally for work (not now but when COVID is over) but can only sync 1 device.- the battery after ONE night of use was at 60%. That means each battery lasts the device 2, maybe 3, nights. So im going to have to buy LOTS of CR 2032 3V batteries. The only way to prevent battery depletion during the day is by having to open the case and disconnect the battery. EVERY TIME. WHY is there no off/on switch?!- Im constantly notified that it connects/disconnects even when I âpower it offâ according to the instructionsHereâs what I like. It works. The position, breathing and temperature was all reading relatively accurate. So if they can fix those issues I mentioned earlier, itâs a HOME RUN. Great price compared to the owlet but I guess you get what you pay for…
