Iâve never been a person for affirmations. I prefer to look at things realistically, clearly viewing both the positives and negatives. As a scientist, I donât try to bend reality to fit my wishes, just to figure out whatâs really there and go forward from that solid basis. To me, affirmations are a form of time-wasting, mostly ineffective self-brainwashing. For some people, this practice may be helpful. However, I donât feel I can turn myself into an NBA basketball star when I truly donât have the ability to do so. So, I read this short book more out of curiosity (and an openness to being shown different) than thinking Iâd derive actual value therefrom. What I found was both âaffirmingâ of my preconceptions as well as illuminating!First of all, this short book is very well organized and well-written. For those who want to give this a try, it takes a person through an entire year of morning and evening affirmation-practice. Also, the rationale for this dedicated, constant approach is well considered. It isnât just having a foggy hopeful mantra now and then, but trying to actually alter oneâs brainâs setpoints. Intriguing! As such it has a strong parallel to applied meditation and prayer, both psychological techniques of great historical validation. Secondly, I found that although most of the affirmations to me are still illogical hyperbole, wishful thinking, or just plain wrongâa surprising number of them directly applied to my own life: in emphasizing truths that my protective pessimism tends to negate or downplay.THOSE affirmationsânot as unrealistic wishing, but as steadying bulwarksâcould actually make a difference in my negative thinking, a real help! In other words, though much of this may not apply to a particular readerâs life or thought patterns, SOME of it likely will do so! For instance, thereâs a huge theme running through at least half of the affirmations: getting money. Sure, this is a big problem for many people, where their own lack of using their own full potentials may contribute. But itâs a rudimentary low level of preoccupation. I found much more compelling the statements that lead to a richer LIFE rather than just a fatter bank account, for example: âI am living an extremely rich life in every possible sense,â âI am proud of the work that I do,â and âFor me, my work is fun and enjoyable.â Once again, if those arenât true for a person, itâs just attempted, false brainwashing. But if those things are unfairly discounted, then itâs bringing up and confirming the TRUE positives! For all those caught in negative thought-cycles, who feel they are not living up to their own true potentials, and who doubt their own actual positivesâthis book is very much worth a read-through. Although it isnât a âmagic bulletâ to instantly change anyoneâs life for the better (as clearly communicated in the book: any improvements requiring dedicated application) it COULD provide the basis for real breakthroughs. Highly recommended!

Not sure if you need that many different affirmations, but if you do, this is the book for you. The affirmations are very well formulated and feel good to read. Going through them on a constant basis makes a huge difference in your thinking.

This is a great book. Although the author sometimes overstates the affirmations on money or wealth, you will also find great affirmations for daily life. I like this one, For me, all at perversities are opportunities for attaining greater success.â

This was a nice book full of affirmations for an entire year. I teach vision board classes, and manifestation is very powerful way to bring things into your life. This book had a nice variety to help you all year. Positive thinking alone has a lot of power and motivates. These will help set your day of to a good start and end it well. I think this book has a lot of value.
