Router is excellent but Not for Jio 5G sim
I have tested the router with Airtel 5G sim, Jio 5G sim and VI 5G sim. I observed that there is no problem when you use Airtel or VI 5G sim. The router automatically detect setting and gives you 4G speed as per signal strength in that area. In my case speed of Airtel and VI is excellent in Mumbai. But it is not true with Jio 5G sim.The router gives you wifi signal but without network. Whatever you do you can’t use Jio 5G Sim in it. I have never tested Pure Jio 4G sim so I can’t say about it. It is not fault of router but problem is with Jio 5G sim. Installation is super easy and coverage is also good. Manufacturing quality is also nice. It is really a value for money product if you are want to use Airtel and VI sim and if there is good signal strength in your area.

Good but not great for Jio (TL-MR100/ ‘300 Mbps 4G LTE’)
Overall good experience, first product delivered had one antenna socket missing but replacement delivered in 2 days was fine.India 4G LTE bands are LTE 850 (5), LTE 900 (8) LTE 1800 (3), LTE 2100 (1), LTE 2300 (40), LTE 2500 (41) – of which Jio uses bands 3, 5 and 40 in Maharashtra. Only the latest 2 products from Tp-link support all these bands, this product (TL-MR 100, labelled as style ‘300 Mbps 4G LTE’) and the more powerful TP-Link Archer MR600 (labelled style ‘ AC1200 Mbps Dual Band | Cat6’). Did not get the Archer MR600 as it costs double the TL-MR100 and its key feature, carrier aggregation (4G+) doesn’t work well as per reviews on Amazon.Setup was a bit tricky, had to create a new profile for Jio (see picture) which wasn’t intuitive in the UI. I think it is better to set the band and network manually as the device will be placed in a fixed location. You can choose the best band by selecting each in turn and running speed tests – band 3 worked best for me in two locations – city and rural. Note the product accepts the nano SIM (same as that in Jio dongle) and not micro SIM (as per description). Placing the device near a window, preferably with line of sight to tower works best – speed reduced a bit if raining. The speed is better than that received from the Jio dongle and more stable as well – although no battery is a problem if you don’t have an inverter. One feature not working with Jio is SMS – don’t need to send SMS but need to receive OTP over SMS to login to Jio website. Folks have raised this in Tp-link forums but not fixed as yet. This is particularly needed to check daily usage is not over limit. On the wifi side, note that the external antenna is for the 4g lte signal – wifi antennas I think are internal to the device which explains the limited range (at most one wall) and reduced speed at distance. Testing speed next to device vs across one wall/ floor results in speed dropping by half. Could be improved by using a wifi extender or access point connected over LAN (not tried). LAN cable included is flimsy and short though.Could use 3 mobile phones to simultaneously watch Youtube at good quality (at least before the daily limit ran out!). One or two children can do online classes over MS Teams if well setup (near window, limited indoor wifi range)

Expensive BUT Excellent!
I’ve been using the Archer MR600 router & following are the points worth knowing -1. Setting it up is super easy.2. You use it as a normal router who’s main connection is from an Ethernet cable OR you can just insert a SIM card to use 4G+ mobile data.3. You can remove the antenna & attract the router to external antenna that could be placed at a location where SIM network has better signal strength/data speed.4. There are loads of features on this router to ensure safely, security & parental controls5. You can install the TP-Link app to confure the router, perform speed test, check SMS that you have recieved on the SIM inserted into the router.6. Create a guest networks for people you are not sure off.7. Good constant connection with WifiMeshI’m very happy with my purchase. If you need a router to be used at a remote location without internet connection.Thank you.

Terrible Product, Do not recommend
TL;DR, This is a terrible, terrible product. Stay away.I bought 2 of these and a gigabit loadbalancer to setup faster internet at my home, Now within 10 days, I have returned both of these routers. This router has multiple issues in it’s hardware and software.Pros,1. Easy to install2. You can get 20-50mbit speeds if your ISP supports Band 3 + 40 or 5+40 and you get good speeds on these bands in this config.Cons:1. QoS on this router is a complete joke. They are not doing QoS at all, What they are doing is asking you to enter expected amount of bandwidth and then reserving a percentage of that bandwidth for high/med/low priority users. This is not QoS and since it’s a LTE router that you’ll be using with a SIM card, You will probably never know the _expected_ speed you’ll get at any given point in time. If you enter a higher or lower value than your actual speed, that crops up more issues.2. IP/MAC Binding or DHCP IP reservation does not works. The DHCP server is unaffected by IP/MAC binding or DHCP IP reservation settings.3. CPU in this thing is extremely weak. At night, I was able to get 90-100mbit speed in 3+40 config but if I enable Traffic monitor or QoS or any of the _advanced_ features on this device, The bandwidth drops significantly probably because the CPU can’t keep up with the traffic and keeping all those features active at the same time.4. The web UI in this is horrible and has a lot of bugs in Firefox/Safari.5. The RSSP/RSSQ/SNR values in Advanced->status are refreshed very infrequently and there is no auto refresh in this page. If you are on a roof trying to adjust the antenna so you can get best signal, Doing that with this router is very problematic and takes a lot of time, simply because you aren’t getting the updated values fast enough and there is no auto refresh.6. The LTE modem or which ever other bit is responsible for signal reception is extremely flaky. At one point, You could be getting what I would consider extremely good signals and in a second with no change in the router position or anything, the signal quality gets significantly worse and then gets back to where it was again. This just keeps happening with both of my routers.7. Setting your APN to use IPv4&IPv6 breaks IPv6 on this device. Some of my clients get IPv6 address, Some don’t. Even the clients that do get a IPv6 address can’t talk to any IPv6 enabled machine on the internet.8. Wifi coverage in this router is meh. Don’t buy it with high expectations there.9. There is no support for Bridge Mode although there are hacks around it.10. The Antennas that come with the router are of poor quality. The plastic of antenna is not attached very well to female SMA connectors so after installing them on the router, the actual antenna still moves freely about +-30 degrees. Just the plastic antenna moves, The actual connection around female SMA port doesn’t. This happens on both of routers. This is trouble some as it can effect LTE signal quality.11. Even though they say, It supports Carrier aggregation and Yes, It does. I have only been able to get CA to work on Band 1+3, 3+5, 3+40, 5+40. Using a old beta firmware from April, I was able to get these CA’s working but nothing else works. There is no 40A-40A CA support on this router so careful about that.12. Router startup takes a lot of time i.e. Around 2-3 minutes.13. There has been no word on 40A-40A CA support on this device and it’s developers have been silent on the issue annd the TP Link forums have not been very helpful.14. There is no way to save incoming messages to sim card or transfer them all to sim card in one command. If you want to preserve a copy of received messages, The only way is to forward them to another number, one by one. And the UI is so slow. Extremely annoying experience.Overall, I’d say avoid this device. Get a Huawei device if you don’t have issues with made in china or a LTE device made by one of the companies in EU. Skip this. They _may_ fix these issues in V2 hardware version of this device but it’s not like they’ll replace this crappy V1 version of this device with V2. :/ Skip it, Get something else.
