So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Every week we review a handful of new albums (from all genres), round up even more new music we’d call “indie” and talk about what metal comes out. We post music news, track premieres and more all day. We are updating a weekly playlist of some of our current favorite tracks. Here is a daily summary with a bunch of interesting and recently released songs in one place.

YG – “TOXIC”

YG has a new album on the way via Def Jam, and it will include new single “Toxic,” which finds YG taking his bouncing West Coast rap in an R&B direction.

NICKI MINAJ – “SUPER FREAKY GIRL”

After teasing a clip on social media, Nicki Minaj has officially released “Super Freaky Girl,” which prominently samples Rick James’ “Super Freak.”

MIA – “POPULAR”

MIA will release a new album MAST soon and while we wait for more details about it, she released the new single “Popular” which was produced by Boaz van de Beats and Diplo.

DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE – “FOXGLOVE THROUGH CLEAR CUT”

Death Cab for Cutie’s new album asphalt meadows was released in September, and the new single is the masterful “Foxglove Through The Clearcut”. “Foxglove is by far the most personal song on the record,” says Ben Gibbard. “As I was writing it, I thought I was just the narrator. But the more I sat with it, I realized I was both the protagonist AND the narrator.” Pre-order asphalt meadows on pink vinyl.

BRADY WATT – “BODY SNATCHERS” (ft. RANSOM)

Producer and instrumentalist Brady Watt tapped rapper Ransom for this cinematic, triumphant track.

FIRST AID CHILD – “OUT OF MY MIND”

First Aid Kit have announced their new album, palominowhich is due out November 4 via Columbia, and shared the video for new single “Out of My Head”, inspired by Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. “We wrote this song last year with songwriter and producer Björn Yttling,” they say. “It was our first time writing for First Aid Kit with someone else and it was very inspiring. The song was written on the spur of the moment, almost like a stream of consciousness. is about feeling stuck in your own thoughts and desperately wanting to escape. We produced the song with Daniel Bengtson in Stockholm. It sounds a bit different from our previous songs. We wanted the production to sound like an old song 80s rock. We were inspired by Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush and Tom Petty. This is one of our favorite songs we’ve ever written, we’re so proud of it and so excited to finally be able to share it.

JAKE LA BOTZ – “DROP DOWN”

Jake La Botz’s new album hair on fire drops Sept. 9, and it will include the gritty, punky Americana of “Let It Fall.”

MORRAY – “TICKET”

Soul-trap purveyor Morray brings his irresistible croon to a slow-motion new single, “Ticket.”

MEYHEM LAUREN & DARINGER – “TRIP POINT THERAPY” (ft. WESTSIDE GUNN)

Meyhem Lauren’s next album Black Vladimir was produced entirely by Griselda’s in-house producer, Daringer, and other Griselda members also appear on the album, such as Westside label boss Gunn, who brings his distinct raps and ad-libs to “Trigger Point Therapy.” “.

BELLA POARCH – “NO MAN’S LAND” FT. GRAMES

After appearing on singer and TikTok star Bella Poarch’s video for “Dolls”, Grimes collaborated with her on another new single, “No Man’s Land”.

JESSIE REYEZ – “MUTUAL FRIEND”

Jessie Reyez plans to release her second album Yessie “soon” via FMLY/Island Records, and it will include orchestral alt-pop from “MUTUAL FRIEND.”

PINKPANTHERESS & SAM GELLAITRY – “PICTURE IN MY MIND”

“I traveled all the way to Stirling in Scotland to work with Sam,” PinkPantheress said of their new collaborative track. “He’s a genius producer.” Sam adds: “After meeting Pink P for the first time in London last year, we decided to plan a trip for her to come to Scotland and write. I’m so happy with how this one turned out and it was an honor to see what a visionary Pink Panther really is. this track will be my summer anthem for now and for many years to come.”

TIM (HAUSE) – “HIGH HOPES” (ft. DAVE HAUSE)

Tim Hause has shared his first single as TIM, “High Hopes”. It’s an upbeat folk rock song that was produced by Will Hoge and features Tim’s older brother, Dave Hause.

156/SILENCE – “SAY THE PHRASE”

Pittsburgh metalcore band 156/Silence have shared another rage from their upcoming LP Narrativeand he finds their balance between melody, aggressiveness and emotion more impactful than ever.

EST GEE – “LOVE IS BLIND”

The Louisville rapper EST Gee remains prolific and follows recent single “Blood” with the ruthless street rap of “Love Is Blind.”

THE STREETS – BREXIT TO TIFFANY’S FT. JAZZ MORLEY

Mike Skinner isn’t the first musician this year to release a song with the title “Brexit at Tiffany’s” but his is definitely more British than Tess Park’s (best?) song of the same name.

PANDA BEAR AND SOUND BOOM – “DANGER”

Panda Bear & Sonic Boom’s new album, Reset, was released today (we’ve seen it twice) and one of the many hits is “Danger”, which is based on a snippet from “Love of My Life of the Everly Brothers. They just shared a video, featuring Panda Bear and Sonic Boom, not to mention a ballet dancer.

MOREISH IDOLS – “WAM”

“Wait A Minute is basically a short story inspired by an article I once read about a private detective found dead in a south London car park,” says Jude Lilley of Moorish Idols. “I wrote the lyrics from the perspective of an agent/hitman, stalking his target, unaware that the target is one step ahead of him and had been tipped off to kill said hitman from the same source I struggled to understand how something so archetypal and fictional could happen in a place as mundane as Sydenham.” “WAM” is taken from Moorish Idols’ EP Float out today via Speedy Wunderground.

TOM VEK – NEW SYMBOLS

Tom Vek gave his 2020 album New symbols a complete overhaul, with more glitchy production, more synths and less guitars.

ANNIE-CLAUDE DESCHÊNES (SAID THE DUCHESS) – “ELECTRIC LIGHT”

One of the highlights of Italians Do It Better’s After dark 4 comp is the first solo song by Annie-Claude Deschênes of Duchess Says. It shows a much softer side to the usually incendiary singer and is the first track from her upcoming solo debut.

MORTALITY RATES – “ROSEMARY” AND “SALTWATER”

Canadian hardcore band Mortality Rate are back with two new songs and you can find out more here.

ROC MARCIANO & THE ALCHEMIST – “DEJA VU”

Roc Marciano has announced a new album produced entirely by The Alchemist, The bones of the elephant manand you can read more about the first single “Deja Vu” here.

HR (BAD BRAINS) – “EASY”

The Bad Brains HR frontman has released a new reggae song, “Easy”, a collaboration with Ted Bowne of reggae rock band Passafire which is available now via LAW Records. Learn more here.

ARI LENNOX – “HOODIE”

Dreamville R&B singer Ari Lennox has announced her second album, age/gender/locationand you can read more about the first single “Hoodie” here.

RONALD ISLEY & BEYONCÉ – “MAKE ME SAY IT AGAIN, GIRL”

Beyoncé has teamed up with soul legend Ronald Isley for a revamp of the Isley Brothers’ 1975 classic “Make Me Say It Again Girl (Part 1 & 2).” Learn more here.

Mike Park and Catbite release new 12″ split for Bad Time Records wave breakers series, which brings together ska bands/artists from different generations.
