Mary Coughlan to Perform Fan Favorite Songs at Courthouse Concert
The impressive array of talent lined up to perform at the Courthouse Arts Center in Tinahely continues with Mary Coughlan due to take the stage in May.
he is one of the finest singers to emerge from Galway and is widely regarded as Ireland’s finest jazz and blues singer. Mary will perform all of her signature songs, including “The Double Cross”, “Ancient Rain”, “The Magdalen Laundry” and “Delaney’s Gone Back on the Wine” and her recent cover of the Joy Division song “Love Will Tear Us Apart”.
Since her debut album “Tired and Emotional” rocketed her to overnight stardom in 1985, she has recorded 15 more solo albums. Coughlan has sold out some of the UK’s most prestigious venues and has toured the US, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Scandinavia.
Throughout 30 years of her quite extraordinary life and recording career, Mary has been largely inspired by her legendary heroes, such as Billie Holiday, to whom she has dedicated a double album of her songs, Peggy Lee, Van Morrison and the provocative singer Edith Piaf.
The new album ‘Life Stories’ was primarily written and recorded by Pete Glenister and Mary at No Name Studio.
Mary will perform at the courthouse on Saturday May 21. Tickets cost €23/€25 and the show starts at 8pm.
